Welcome back

Hello everyone,
I apologize for my huge absence for the last year, who knew that having 2 kids could take up so much of your time? Well I am back now and I have learned many, many new things that I can't wait to share with you. Stay tuned to see all of the adventures I had over the period that I've been gone.

Sincerely,
Melissa

What should I wear???

Ah yes, the ever popular question that follows,
"I've convinced my family and we have a session planned now...umm...."
***
Well here are a few samples to help you decide the tone or feeling you are going for.
The white and denim jean are a timeless combo and portray a more casual shot, but be careful not to get your face drained of color. White will bleach you if you are fair skinned.

The white top and khaki are a handsome choice, a bit more of a warm fall feel to it.

I'm a fan of the brown on khaki, it adds depth and character to a portrait, and it can go just about anywhere.
(Besides, for those of us who didn't hit the beach or a tanning salon this summer, wearing brown always gives you that sun kissed look.) I've seen it when the men wear the brown and the girls in the family wear different shades of pastel or pink. It was quite cute.
Now I typically don't approve of a pattern on a shirt or vest, but this little boys vest pulled all the colors together and it was broken up by his white undershirt, so it was a nice touch to the families portrait.
My own family portrait this year was cream, red and black. We let our daughter be the tying piece.

These last few family portraits show you what can be done with a simple color choice. It is easily changeable to different colors and your families faces are the main focus. I wouldn't recommend this clothing choice to groups larger than 15, it becomes a black blob with floating heads.

I hope this gives you some ideas of what styles you like, or don't like. Both are equally important.
Just think of your family's style and especially where you would hang the portrait. You wouldn't put a picture of everyone in overalls in the formal dining room. A good lesson to learn from someone else, I promise!
Feel free to comment on what color combos have worked, or haven't worked for your family. Enjoy the site!
